Tampa Athlete Selected To US Adaptive Rowing Team

Selections were held for the Adaptive Rowing LTA4+ at the Camden County Boathouse in NJ July, 18, 2009. 10 athletes were vying for 5 spots on the roster.
The selected boat will be going to Poznan, Poland at the end of August to compete at the World Championships.

Eric McDaniel, receiving therapy at The VA Hospital in Tampa as part of the Para Olympic Military program. was chosen as a member of the National Adaptive Rowing team to represent the United States in Poland this summer. He has been receiving his training in rowing in Tampa through The Stewards Foundation, Inc.

The complete list of athletes representing the US in Poland will be Cox Tim Edsell (Melbourne, FL), Andrew Johnson (Riverside, CT), Eric McDaniel (Wikki Wakki, FL), Emma Preuschl (Indianapolis, IN), Jennifer Klapper (Philadelphia, PA). Emma is a returning Paralympic Silver Medalist.

According to Tom Feaster, The Southeast Representative of the United States Rowing Association, Adaptive Rowing is a Para Olympic sport. It is a great accomplishment for Rowing in the Southeast that two of these five adaptive athletes representing the United States at the World Championships will be from the state of Florida.
