Steve White: Treasurer/Director of Rowing

As a successful High School rower from the highly competitive Philadelphia area, Steve was recruited and awarded a scholarship to the University of Tampa where he earned a four year Varsity letter.

Steve stroked the Varsity boats that won multiple state championships and qualified for entry to the national regattas where they earned a bronze medal in the heavyweight four his senior year. He was the first student coach for Tampa Prep back in the very early stages of that program while they were still on the UT campus. Graduating with a degree in Accounting, Steve went on to a highly successful career in the restaurant industry in senior management and executive positions until recently retiring.  Along the way, Steve stayed involved in coaching with his children in a variety of sports but always talked about his lifelong goal of getting back into crew, both as a competitor as well as a coach.

Steve is a strong believer in "lifelong learning" and has completed the US Rowing Level 1 and Level 2 Coaching Certification classes and enjoys attending and participating in the many rowing seminars and clinics put on around the country by successsful programs and coaches.

Steve was always impressed with and supported the Stewards Foundation and its commitment to its mission of using the sport of rowing to teach kids teamwork, commitment and responsibility. Having rowed for Tom Feaster, the president of The Stewards Foundation as well as a personal friend, Steve jumped on the opportunity to help coach the program when the need came about and since has been actively involved in growing the sport in the Tampa area.  The Stewards Foundation decided to leverage Steve's leadership and management skills to help them organize in a way that would continue to deliver on their mission as well as grow the existing programs while starting new ones. Steve currently has a number of roles that all complement one another as well as allow him to continue to accomplish his goals. He is the Treasurer of the Foundation as well as the Director of Rowing, with responsibility for providing clear direction for the entire coaching staff.
